Patricia LaRue
Patricia LaRue is the first Executive Director for Canadians for Choice. Patricia is leading the organization in ensuring reproductive choice for all Canadians through education, research, training and public policy. Prior to joining Canadians for Choice, Patricia had worked for 4 years as the Executive Coordinator for the Youth Coalition; a network of young people working internationally to promote the sexual and reproductive health and rights of adolescents and youth. She has an intimate knowledge of development issues, youth issues, sexual and reproductive rights, health, human rights, and cross-cultural issues. Besides having been the CFC treasurer for one year, she has work and volunteering experience with Oxfam-Quebec - CIES/Salud Sexual y Reproductiva, Tarija (Bolivia), and the Association For Women's Rights in Development (AWID - Toronto, Canada). Patricia was part of the Canadian delegation to two meetings of the Economic Commission of Latin America and the Caribbean and attended various United Nations meetings for the 10-year review of the International Conference on Population and Development and the 5-year review of the Millennium Development Goals. In 2002, Patricia received a degree in International Development Studies from the University of Toronto, completing her honours thesis on the subject of Teenagers as Agents of Change in Sexual and Reproductive Health in Bolivia. She is also currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Public Administration at l’Ecole nationale d’administration publique. Patricia joined CFC with the hopes of challenging barriers to reproductive choice throughout the country and raising awareness on the issue of rights and access.
